About the Author and Illustrator Hal Gieseking is the author of 14 books on business and travel. He is a past president of the Society of American Travel Writers. His former posts include serving as consumer editor of Travel Holiday magazine (then a Reader's Digest publication) and travel correspondent for CBS Morning News. He is currently an official photographer for Famous & Historic Trees (a division of the American Forests) and a freelance writer/consultant based in Williamsburg, Virginia, and freely sharing his opinions with his wife Margaret and his West Highland Terrier Jonathan. Born and raised in New York City, Giselle Simons received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Cornell University. She currently lives on Manhattan's Upper West Side, where she works as an illustrator, architectural design drafter, and graphic designer. She is caretaker to a dog, two cats, an increasing number of fish, and her husband, Jeff.
