Great book, more for pre-baby
By Andrea M. Pinto
This is a great, easy-to-read book with good info. However, the title is a bit misleading--2/3 of the book deal with planning for baby and dealing with the first few days. It is an excellent book, but it is more a book to read in your last trimester than after baby is born.

A lot of the "right" tidbits of information
By Laura Guenthner
The number of pregnancy and newborn "guide" books is overwhelming. Somehow, I managed to restrain myself and live with only a half dozen or so, including this book. I found that it had a lot of the same, basic information that most baby guide books have (nursing FAQs, commentary on colic, crying, and sleeping issues, etc.) But it also has a few sections that I didn't find in my other reference books and did appreciate in this one. One of those sections dealt with the descriptions of the birth and the appearance of the newborn in the first few minutes, hours, and days. As another reviewer mentioned, you don't get this detailed information in every baby/pregnancy book. Also, some good info on what your baby "knows" at the earliest age, baby massage techniques, and some down-to-earth advice on "Baby Boot Camp" - dealing with this huge transition in your life. For a first pregnancy/baby, this is a solid addition to the library! If you are particularly interested in your new baby's brain development, I would definitely recommend What's Going on in There? : How the Brain and Mind Develop in the First Five Years of Life as well.

A comprehensive + extremely helpful book on Baby's 1st Year
By A Customer
The Mother of All Baby Books is well-named, because the scope of the topics covered in this book on your baby's first year is huge. Ann Douglas provides extensive information on breastfeeding, introducing solid foods to your baby, baby's first teeth, handling problems with diapers, and so much more! She never talks down to you, like some other authors do, and instead, speaks clearly about common issues and problems that many moms face in Baby's first year of life. Every new mom needs this book.
