Nostradamus made simple-a surefire prophecy of success!
Michel Notredame, or Nostradamus (1503-1566), was a French physician, astrologer, and prophet whose books of visionary four-line verses have intrigued and beguiled readers for hundreds of years. Now, with this fun and easy guide, everyone can finally get a handle on Nostradamus and his "Centuries" of prophecies, which many people believe to have predicted the French Revolution, the rise of Hitler, the Kennedy assassination, and 9/11, among other events. The book covers Nostradamus's life and beliefs, his use of cryptic language and anagrams, interpretations of his work that link it to specific historical incidents, and critics who are skeptical of his prophecies. It also explores the implications of his work on the past, present, and future, and much more!

great Nostradamus introduction
By Suzanne Rice
I didn't know a whole lot about Nostradamus before reading this book except from several History Channel shows I'd seen about him recently. So, when I decided to learn more about his quatrains, I decided to go with a book from a series (for Dummies) that I knew I liked. This book doesn't go into all 900+ quatrains, but that's not its intention. It is a good book for an introduction into Nostradamus's quatrains, his background, and the history surrounding and behind many of the quatrains. This book, like the other Dummies books I've read is very easy to read, in an organized, easy-to-understand text. The author lets you know that various scholars have different interpretations of the quatrains, and she explains the meanings according to her understanding/interpretation by breaking down the quatrains line by line and giving clarification and background information without bogging readers down with a lot of hard to understand and technical mumbo jumbo. She presents quatrains that are believed to be about the same topic in each chapter including the French royalty/Medicis, World Wars/Hitler, French Revolution/Napoleon, and the Millenium. This book is not meant to be the end all/be all of Nostradamus. It is intended to be a good introduction and starting point to the study of his predictions and the author has done a good job of it.

Do your homework carefully!
By DONLSR
My first criticism is that Nostradamus clearly states in his letter to his son Cesar that Nostradamus' predictions are for between the dates 1555 A.D. and 3797 A.D., not 3737 and/or 3757, both stated in the Nostradamus for Dummies eBook.
Quatrain C II - 62:
"Mabus" then will soon die, there will come
Of people and beasts a horrible rout:
Then suddenly one will see vengeance,
Hundred, hand, thirst, hunger when the comet will run.
MABUS was not the third anti-Christ. MABUS was Saddam Hussein who was hanged December 30, 2006. Flip MABUS and you get SUDAM. Also, "when the comet will run" in line four refers to the spectacular Comet McNaught which became visible to the naked eye on December 30, 2006; check the sky chart for December 30, 2006. True, Nostradamus for Dummies was not published yet, but MABUS was not the third anti-Christ as stated either.
Quatrain C X - 72
The year 1999, seven months,
(By way) of the sky a great King of Terror (will be revealed):
Who will think like the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars (war) to remain in charge by good luck.
If by magic we could make the first line read "The year 2001, September", that would let us know who the great King of Terror was, right? Well we can, and have. Do your homework. Nostradamus lived from 1503 to 1566. The Julian calendar was being used during Nostradamus' day, up until Julian 1581, (which was Gregorian 1582). The Gregorian calendar is the one still used by us today. To make a long story short, 1999 plus seven months is September 2000 Julian, which is September 2001 Gregorian.
I could go on and on. In fact, I do go on and on come to think of it. I have some thirty Nostradamus quatrain videos on YouTube, user name DONLSR.

Nostrodamus for Dummies (and even for those that have some understanding)
By Wayne R. Boss
As with most "For Dummies" books I found "Nostradamus For Dummies" to be a pretty good reference about the subject matter. Ms. Scarlett's basic writing style was easy to follow, even the more cryptic elements of the Great Prophet. While this may not be the best book ever, written about Nostradamus and his vaunted prophesies, it surely is, in my opinion, a must have reference into his life and the knowledge of the Seer.
I feel that anyone who has spent some time researching, will find this book valuable in helping to better understand the verses, (if not in the literal, then at least in the surreal.) My personal Kudos to Ms. Scarlett!
